George Robert Sisk, age 71 of Brevard and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away at Asheville Mission Specialty hospital on March 18, 2016 as a result of heart failure.
Having been born in Rosman on July 12, 1944 to Loonie Franklin and Maxine Arnett Sisk, he was reared by his grandparents, Allen and Kitty (Mean Momma) Sisk as well as his aunts and uncles; Elizabeth, Jr., Barney, June and Paul - all of whom he loved and adored.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Gail Hogsed Sisk and sons Gregory Arnett Sisk, Lesley Blaine Sisk and special "adopted" son, Stephen Osborne. Grandchildren, Jessica Sisk Fisher and husband Shane, Ryan Guillebean, Heather Michele Brady, Sgt. Christian Caleb Sisk and Slade Axle Sisk. Great-grandchildren Mihaylah Bently Fisher and Hunter Anthony Fisher. One brother, Gary Lee Sisk and several nieces and nephews.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the NC Highway Patrol and retired from Wilsonart as a truck driver.
A Memorial Service for George Sisk will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 100 Brian Berg Lane, Brevard, NC 28712, with Father Shawn O'Neal and Deacon Patrick Crosby officiating. Following the church services, full military rites will be conducted on church grounds by The Transylvania County Honor Guard and United States Navy Reserves.
Family and friends will be received in the church fellowship hall with reception to follow.
