Gertrude A. "Trudi" Johnson, 77, of Brevard, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015, in the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. A native of Walnut, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Alexander and Alveda Laws Allen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers James Allen and Herbert Allen.
A graduate of Western Carolina University and Appalachian State University, Trudi was a school teacher for 32 years, primarily in the Transylvania County School System. She was a very active person who loved her family, growing flowers, her western North Carolina heritage and cared for others in need. She was a long-time member of Brevard First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, James "Jim" Johnson; their daughter Jamie Perreault and her husband Mark of Bath, England; and grandchildren Robbie Perreault, Chris Perreault and Leah Perreault of Orlando, Florida.
Funeral Services for Trudi Johnson will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 14, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Brevard with Rev. Tommy Crocker officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday September 13, 2015 at Moore Funeral Home.
