Glenda Gant

Glenda Sue Johnson Gant, 75, of Penrose passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 after a prolonged battle with dementia.

A native of Murphy NC, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Thelma Johnson. In addition to her parents she was also preceeded in death by her sister, Betty Clatterback and her brother, Bill Johnson.

She did volunteer work and was instrumental in leading the fund raising to build the Little River Fire Department. She also enjoyed Brevard High School football on Friday nights.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister to her family that deeply loved her. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Jack Gant; sons, Tony Gant and wife Becky of Penrose; Mike Gant of Penrose; Kevin Gant of Penrose; Randall Gant and wife Toni of Pisgah Forest; Brett Gant and wife Traci of Perryville, KY; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Johnson and Johnny Johnson both of Murphy.

Private family gathering to celebrate her life was held on Sunday, August 9, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S Allen Rd, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
