Pisgah Forest - Gloria Wall, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 24, 2012.



She was born in Bedford, England to the late Ernest Charles and Marjorie Austin Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ron Smith and her sister, Jean Wrenhurst-Smith.



Gloria graduated from Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England with a Nursing Degree in 1960 and studied Psychiatry Curriculum at the Warnford Hospital in Oxford, England. After moving to Brevard her nursing career began at the former Transylvania Hospital.  She worked at the current hospital for a short time and became Director of Nursing at the Brevard Residential Care Center, currently the Brian Center.  She was a certified Geriatric nurse and worked as Case Management Director of Nursing on the Geriatric Lane Wing at Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, NC.  She completed her 51 year nursing career as a homecare nurse through Transylvania Regional Hospital.



Surviving is her loving and precious husband and closest friend of 52 years, Leon Fisher Wall; two sons;  Stephen Andrew Wall and wife Karen Ann of Hendersonville, NC, Mark Austin Wall and wife Paulette of Pisgah Forest, NC,  a daughter;  Elizabeth Adele Wall-Wright and husband Robert Michael Wright of Sarasota, FL; a granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Wright; a brother;  Charles William Smith and wife Ginnie of  Bedford, England;  a nephew, Adam Smith of Bedford, England; two nieces, Dr. Emma Jane Smith and Olivia and husband Stephen Taylor of London, England, extended family; Donald, Pamela, Brandon and Kayse Fabans of Hendersonville, NC; and other beloved family members and friends.



A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Brevard with the Rev. Tommy Crocker and Pastor Richard Merck                      officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the church prior to the service.



Memorials may be made to "Look Good Feel Better" program of the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park #1, Asheville, NC 28801.
