Gordon F. Boynton, Jr., 87, of Brevard, N.C. died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Highlands-Cashiers Hospital.



He was a son of the late Gordon and Grace Peaselee Boynton.  He was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth Ann Geyer.  Irene Boynton has been his loving wife for 49 years.



Gordon was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Brevard, N.C.  He was an accomplished pianist, organist and opera singer.  He was a man of great love, kindness and integrity.



His family would like all to know they are not survivors of his death but testimonies of his life.

His six daughters include, Karen Schultz of Bridgeport, CT, Kathleen Hamelin of Wallingford, CT, Sharon Cullen of Derby, CT, Barbara Fowler of Kansas City, MO, Lisa Ferrara of Jacksonville, FL and Janet Poe of Brevard, NC; two sons, Jared Boynton of Gilbert, AZ and Gordon Boynton, III of Asheville, NC, two sisters, Nancy Anda of Des Plaines, Il and Janice Stokes of Tulsa, OK,  grandchildren; Adam and Joy Poe of Brevard, NC and 17 other grandchildren; great grandchildren; Abigale Poe of Brevard, NC, Gordon-Elliot Lima of Asheville, NC and 38 other great-grand children and a family friend and caregiver, Mary Connelly.



A Memorial Service was held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Brevard, NC with Rev. Robert Field officiating.  Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, November 23, 2012 at St. Paul in the Valley Cemetery.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
