Harvey Murray

Harvey R. Murray, Jr., 77, of Lake Toxaway, NC passed away on June 4, 2013 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.

He was born on February 20, 1936 in St. Louis, MO to the late Harvey Richard Murray, Sr. and Minnie Erby Murray. He was also preceded in death by one son; Timothy Michael Murray and one brother; Donald Gene Murray.

He moved to Bourbon, Mo. as a child and was educated there. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany from 1955-1959. After his service to his country he went to work as an engineer for McDonald Douglas from 1959-1969.

Harvey married his wife Patricia Sue Murray on Dec. 2, 1961 and were married for 52 years. They moved to Sebring, Fl. in 1968, where they lived until 1990. While living there he worked at Highlands General Hospital as an Engineer. Harvey and Patricia moved to Lake Toxaway, NC in 1990.

Harvey's heart was focused on missions and he had a zealous need to share Jesus with all he met. He was a member and Deacon of North Toxaway Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son; Harvey Richard Murray, III and his wife, Cheri of Greenville, SC, one brother; James Murray, two grandsons; Steven Michael Murray and David Allen Murray, one granddaughter; Kimberly Susan Murray, one great grandson; Kaiden Michael McCarson, one sister-in-law; Marjorie Murray.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2013 at North Toxaway Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Mullis officiating.
