Helen Compton, 86, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020.

A Transylvania County native, she was the daughter of the late Jackson Summerfield and Ollie Gillespie Heath. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Polly Kate Osteen and her husband of 35 years, Carl Frazier Compton.

Helen had pride in her Cherokee heritage and enjoyed family genealogy. She enjoyed the youth football league in her younger days and would take care of the concession stand. She enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time at the Outer Banks. But mostly she loved her family.

Her loving survivors include her children, Carl Russell Compton (Brenda) of                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Brevard, and Lois Deborah Compton of Brevard; grandchildren: Jessie Compton, Carli Compton and Ryan Taylor; 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services will be private at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
