Helga Ehricke Preckel

Helga Ehricke Preckel, 85, of Pisgah Forest went home to Heaven on September 10, 2024, after a valiantly fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family, music, laughter and joy during her last days.

Helga was born in Pforzheim, Germany on June 29, 1939, and emigrated to the United States as a young woman. She met Rolf Preckel shortly after arriving in New York, and one of the world's greatest love stories began! On a date to Lovers' Lane, Rolf told Helga about giving his heart to Jesus and what amazing changes he was experiencing as a child of God. Unbeknownst to him, Helga made the same decision that very night. Rolf & Helga were married shortly thereafter and were inseparable best friends for more than 55 years. 

In addition to Rolf, Helga leaves behind two sons, Michael (Ellen) and Steven (Heather); four grandchildren: Casey Fazio (Richard), Jason Preckel (Taylor), Kiersten Preckel, and Kaden Preckel; and three great-grandchildren - all whom she adored and was incredibly proud of.

The family will have a Celebration of Helga's life, at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Destiny Church 448 Tip  Top Road, Brevard, NC  28712.

If there were one thing Helga could share with her family and friends, it would be the importance of asking Jesus Christ to be their Savior. There was nothing more important to Helga than her relationship with her Lord.
