Henry Pangle

December 6, 1933 — May 30, 2021

Pisgah Forest, NC

Henry D Pangle Jr., 87, of Pisgah Forest NC, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021.   Henry was born on December 6th, 1933, in Dillsboro, NC. His father was Henry Pangle Sr., and his mother was Edna Lewis. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his daughter Carmen, and his stepdaughter Michele.

Henry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary, four sons, Marvin (Karen), Alan (Nita), Chris (Terri), Ivan (Norma), stepson Jeff (Beth), stepdaughter Donna (Kevin) and one brother, Lewis (Mildred). In addition, he is survived by 12 grandchildren/5 great grandchildren.

After graduating from Weber high school, Henry joined the US Air Force, serving his country in this compacity for 3 years. He trained to become an airplane mechanic and excelled in his training. During his Air Force tenure, he was awarded The Certification for Distinguished Service/USAF which states, among other things, that ‘Airman served with exceptional duty and honor, meeting the requirements set forth by the congress of the United States of America’.

In addition, Henry also received both the occupational medal (for excellence in his training/work) and the Good Conduct Medal. He loved his country, serving with honor.

After leaving the Air Force, Henry worked for some time at the Ecusta Paper Mill in Pisgah Forest. After leaving the mill, he transferred to the Brevard Postal Service. In 1992, he retired from the postal service, after 25 years of service.

Henry loved all aspects of life. He loved his personal family, the wonder of sunrise/sunset, the tranquility of music, the peace of art, spending time with God and God’s people, educational experiences, traveling, quietly soaking in Holy Scripture lovingly sharing it at any opportunity, and being a member of God’s family.

Henry had a lot of friends. However, he was extremely close to ‘brother’ John. John Dillon and Henry had a very close bond, often praying together not only for their needs, but also for the needs of others. Thank you, John!  You were always there for Henry.
