Henry Odell Purgason, also known as Hank, Odell or Cotton, 85, of The Woodlands, TX passed away November 5, 2013. He was born in Rhodhiss, NC, the second son of Clyde and Ollie Purgason. He was preceded in death by two wives, Evelyn Purgason and Jane Purgason, and a son Steve Purgason.

Henry graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1947, joined the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in Alaska. After discharge from the Army, Hank received his Associates Degree from Brevard College. He then joined Olin in Brevard where he met Evelyn Smith and they were married on March 11, 1950. He held several positions at the Olin Cellophane plant in Covington, Indiana, including Plant Controller. In 1977, he and Evelyn returned to Brevard where he finished his cellophane career with Flexel in 1993. Hank and Evelyn enjoyed traveling the globe until Evelyn passed away in 2002. Hank soon reconnected with childhood neighbor Jane Ellmore Curtis and they married on March 11, 2006 in Daleville, Alabama. Hank was called Odell by the Curtis family and enjoyed their fellowship and warm embrace. After Jane passed away in 2009, Hank moved to The Woodlands, TX.

Hank is survived by his two sons; Richard Purgason and his wife Judith of The Woodlands, TX and Jeff Purgason of Hendersonville, NC.; two grandsons, Ryan Pergason and Adam Purgason; and two great grandchildren, Alex and Jessica Purgason; two brothers, Dave Purgason and his wife Helen of Orlando, FL, and Ken Perguson of Spartanburg, SC, one sister Alice and her husband Sherman of Spartanburg, SC.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Services followed by graveside services at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Covington Community Foundation, P.O. Box 175, Covington, IN 47932.
