Hildegard Greitzke died, November 1, 2024. She was born on May 30, 1930, in White Plains, New York to the late Erick Winklemann and Hedwig Pirscher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Innozenz S. Greitzke.
She attended Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church and the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
She went to Germany to visit her grandmother with her mother in 1939 and the war kept her there until after high school graduation in Hereford, Germany. She then stayed to help care for her mother who was not well. At the age of 23 she returned to White Plains and began working as a personal caregiver.
Hildegard enjoyed dancing and attended a German club where she met her husband Innozenz and they were married in 1955. They remained in White Plains until moving to Brevard and her home in Deerlake in 1988.
She enjoyed feeding the swans, working in the yard, walking and a singing group. A tea party was always special to her with her many friends.
She moved to the College Walk community after Inno’s death and enjoyed 10 years there. Tore’s gave her personal care until her death.
Hildegard is survived by her family of friends, and they will miss her.
A Funeral service for Hildegard will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 4, 2024, in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations. Burial will follow at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation/reception will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
