Howard Barnes

Howard E. Barnes, 92, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Bristol, Conn., he was a son of the late Dana and Jennie Smith Barnes. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley MacDonald Barnes who died in 1999.
Mr. Barnes was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army-Air Force.

His loving survivors include his son, Edward and his wife Vickie Barnes and two granddaughters, Grace and Maggie Barnes all of Cary, NC, one niece, Lynn Miller and one nephew, Dick Barnes.

Mr. Barnes moved to Brevard in 1954 and worked for Ecusta as an engineer before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Brevard Davidson-River Presbyterian Church and Glen Cannon County Club.

Along with his passion for spending time with his family he also enjoyed playing golf and volunteering at Habitat Thrift Shop.

A Memorial Service will be held for Howard Barnes at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Brevard Davidson-River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Brevard Davidson-River Presbyterian Church, 249 East Main Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
