Ida Sawyer

Ida Frances Liskey Sawyer, 88, died April 14, 2015 in Brevard. She was born in 1927 in Elizabeth City, N.C. to the late Franklin Clyde Liskey and Marguerite Hughes Liskey. She and her husband spent the last seven years living in Brevard.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Sawyer, of Brevard, and children David Sawyer, of Apex, NC., Paul Sawyer of Brevard, Betsy Harrod of Cary, NC., and Amy Sawyer of Wake Forest, NC.; her daughter-in-law Denise Sawyer of Brevard and son-in-law Ron Harrod of Cary, NC; six grandchildren and spouses: Nathan and Kristin Sawyer, Rebecca and Philip Holt, Samuel Sawyer, Benjamin Sawyer and Paul Sawyer; and three great-grandchildren: Weston Holt, Layla Rae Sawyer and Jackson Sawyer.
She spent her childhood in Elizabeth City and became an accomplished pianist. She attended Louisburg College and graduated from Greensboro College for Women.
She married and moved to Raleigh, NC where she was a diligent homemaker who gave piano lessons from her house. She loved gardening and was a member of the Bonsai and Orchid Societies, and was an active member of Westover Methodist Church.
Her family and friends cherish memories of her kindness and generosity. The family extends their appreciation to all the caregivers in Brevard who helped take care of her during these later years.
She was put to rest on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh.
