Brevard - Rev. James Ralph (J.R.) McDowell died Monday January 23, 2012 at his home. He was 88 years old. Born in Pitcairn, PA, outside Pittsburgh, J.R. was introduced to Brevard as a summer resident in his 20’s; he built a home in beautiful Mill Cove in 1964.
