Jacquelyn Richards

Brevard, North Carolina

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Richards, 79, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Orrum, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Emil and Claire Heller Richards.

Jackie received her Bachelor's Degree from King University (formerly King College) in Bristol, TN and then a Master's Degree in Christian Education at Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, VA. After teaching for a year in Scotland and Fayetteville, NC she moved back to Brevard to become a caretaker for her mother in her final years.

Formerly, she was co-owner of the Victorian Rose Tea Room in Brevard with her sister, Sharon Pulliam. Jackie worked with the Brevard Housing Authority for 20 years until her retirement. After retirement she became the site manager for Cedar Hill Apartments in Brevard and retired once again. She also delivered the Asheville Citizen Times newspaper in Brevard for a time.

A member of the Transylvania Choral Society, she was passionate about cat welfare and volunteered at Free Rein and Friends for Life Forever Farm in Lake Toxaway.

Her survivors include her sister, Sharon Pulliam (Steve) of Pisgah Forest; her nieces Christina Pulliam of Pisgah Forest and Lindsay Pulliam (Ben Rogers) of Baltimore, MD; and her cat, Bella.

Services for Jacquelyn Richards will be private.
