James Ferguson Bonner



James (Jim) Ferguson Bonner, 92, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A veteran of the U. S. Navy in WWII, he was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, Jim moved his family to Devon, PA in 1958, where he lived until he and his wife Pat retired to Laurel Park in 1984. He moved to Brevard in 2002. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He worked as an Industrial Engineer for the Post Office in the eastern section of the U.S. until his retirement in 1984. Until late in 2007, Jim was an active member of the "Meanderthals" Hiking Club (formerly the "Easy Striders"), a group of retired hiking advocates in the area. He also was a Hospice volunteer for many years.



Surviving are his wife, Patricia (Pat) Wallace Bonner; sons, James Cutler Bonner of Chesterbrook, PA, and Nicholas Stewart Bonner, his wife Melissa Gaskins and their daughter Isabella all of Cincinnati, OH; and daughter-in-law, Josephina F. McEvoy of Los Angeles, CA.



A memorial service will be held at College Walk Retirement Community, Brevard, NC, the time and date will be announced later. Memorials may be made to TCH Hospice, P.O. Box 2440, Brevard, NC 28712.
