James Earl "Bean" Gravely
Brevard- James Earl "Bean" Gravely, 93, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Brevard, he was a son of the late Dewitt Powell and Ethel Gravely. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Morris Gravely and his infant son, James Earl Gravely, Jr. "Jimmy".
Earl proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He founded Gravely Plumbing in 1949 and became a successful businessman . He made many friends and loyal customers because of the way he treated people. He worked hard supporting his family until he retired in the 1980's.
Mr. Gravely is survived by his daughter; Fran Johnson (Marshall) of Brevard, two sons; Terry Gravely (Denise) of Pisgah Forest and Eddie Gravely (Lue) of Brevard; Nine grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren and one on the way; and all of his very special caregivers.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 3pm at Pisgah Gardens. A Memorial Service will follow at Glady Branch Baptist Church at 6:30 pm with the Revs. Tommy Owen and Allen Thompson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transylvania County Hospice, PO Box 2440, Brevard, NC 28712.
