James Gregg

James M. Gregg (Jim), 74 of Brevard, NC and Largo, FL passed away on July 3, 2017. Born, October 6, 1942, in McKeesport, PA., he was the second son of the late John Gregg and Adella Jaspert.
After graduating from Tryon High School, Jim had several vocations. He found his true calling and passion when he became a registered nurse. He retired from Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL after 28 years of service.
Jim was an active member of Brevard First UMC, as well as an associate member of Anona UMC in Largo, FL. He served in many capacities including Staff Parish Relations at both churches and as a Parish Nurse. Jim was also blessed to be called on 2 short term mission trips, where he was able to serve the Mayan people of Guatemala with his love of Jesus and His People.
Jim will be remembered for his love for his family, his compassion, confidence, competitiveness and for his gentle kindness to all he met. He enjoyed all sports but especially loved golfing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, of 33 years, Linda, daughters Lori (Mark) Anderson, Kristi (Troy) Sides and grandchildren Luke, Sarah, and John Mark Anderson and Nicolas and Kristopher Sides. Other survivors include brothers John and Robert Gregg, half-brothers Sean, Gary and sister Pamela Gregg as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, July 8th at Brevard United Methodist Church at 2pm with the Reverends Mike Holder and Lauren Sims-Salata officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Brevard First United Methodist Church Missions at 325 N. Broad Street, Brevard, NC 28712 or Hands of Healing Medical Mission, 13233 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL
