James 'Jim' Robert Marcum was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 9th at the age of 77. He was born on July 19, 1937 to Ms. Bertie Marcum and Mr. Robert Marcum and was a native of Transylvania County. He was the brother to three sisters, and a loving husband and father.
Jim leaves behind him a legacy that will be honored and remembered for many generations. He graduated from Brevard High School and went on to study and play football at Mars Hill College. After graduating, he served his country as a surveyor for the Army. Jim worked for the NCDOT and retired after 30 dedicated years. Jim and son, Brad, also opened local family-run business, Marcum's Buck and Bass, which has been running for 27 successful years.
His constant and contagious smile will always be cherished. He was loved by so many friends, family, and community members. Jim was a guardian and provider for his family and embodied the definition of a hardworking man. A very wise and gentle man, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He delighted in a warm cup of coffee, sunshine, and the blossoming beauty of springtime.
