James Owens

James Ogden Owens, 88, of Brevard, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at The Oaks of Brevard. Born in Utica, NY, he was the son of the late James Carroll and Agnes Ogden Owens. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Rody Conrad Owens, his twin sister Carol Branigan, sisters Judy Owens and Diane Young and his brother Msgr. Peter Owens
After a long and successful career with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, he and his wife Jackie moved to Transylvania County. He loved the mountains, snow skiing, and he and Jackie were regulars on the Bocce Court in Connestee Falls. He had a phenomenal sense of humor, often telling stories but never the same one twice.
His loving survivors include his wife, Jackie Lewis-Owens; daughters Chris Quay and husband Sam of Royersford, PA., Ginny Hilton and husband John of Darien, CT., Sue LeClair and husband Mark of Fairfax, VT., Katie Owens of Burlington, VT., son Greg Owens and wife Laurie of Penfield, NY., Patti Lutz of Crystal Lake, IL., Bob Lewis and wife Mibby of Louisville, CO., Jim Lewis and wife Rita of Allen, TX., 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass for James Ogden Owens will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Ftr. Shawn O'Neal officiating.
