James Self

James Henry Self, 74, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. A native of Cobb County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Henry David and Ada Adair Self. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers Thomas Alton Self and William David Self and his sisters Mary Elizabeth Fisher, Sarah Frances Self and Ida Lorene Self.

A United States Army veteran, he worked as a millwright with Ecusta. A 1963 graduate of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, GA, he was a member of the Brevard Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner Clown since 1989 and also a member of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Marcum Self; sons Ty Robert Batson (Allison) and Kyle David Self (Tina), and Wayne Alley; one brother; Robert Eugene Self, grandchildren Dustin Lee Batson, Cole Robert Batson, Eli Self, Josiah Self and Alex Self; and sister Artie Blanks.

A Memorial Service for James Self will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Blantyre Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest with Rev. Ron Nelson officiating and Masonic Rites provided by Dunn's Rock Masonic Lodge.
