James Sheafer

James Foster Sheafer, 83, of Brevard, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harley Foster and Edith May Walters Sheafer. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Andersen Sheafer, his son Steven Martin Sheafer, and his sister Mickey Lyles.

An avid golfer and hunter, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion and loved spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his children: Stuart Harley Sheafer of Asheville, Cylin Sheafer of Brevard and Collin Sheafer of Asheville; grandchildren Jason Kane Shook and wife Danielle of Brevard, Jimmy Martin Sheafer of Orlando, Florida, and Erin Lee Gaugh and husband Chris of Orlando; great-grandchildren Jonas Shook, Ella Burnette and Oliver Gaugh; and sister Frances Malkames of Traverse City, Michigan.

A Memorial Service for James Sheafer will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the American Legion Hall at 55 E. Jordan Street in Brevard. The Transylvania County Honor Guard and the US Navy Reserves will perform Military Rites.
