James "Jim" Brown Wright, 86, of Brevard, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Margaret Dunley Wright.
A graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, he joined the United States Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. In 1954 he returned to school and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1956.
After graduation he worked for Sears in a management capacity for several years before taking a management position with Wickes Corporation. He and his wife, Barbara, later owned an accounting, tax and investment business in St. Charles, Illinois before retiring and moving to Brevard in 1999 where they enjoyed a number of activities. Most of all, he just enjoyed living in Western North Carolina.
His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Johnson Wright; children Karen Zaret of Park Forest, Illinois, Steve Wright of Mesa, Arizona, Sarah Wright of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patty Steinhauser of Berrien Springs, Michigan, and Larry Wright of Noblesville, Indiana; 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial Service for Jim Wright will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Jean Rowe officiating.
