Jane Childress

Jane L. Childress, 82, of Brevard, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Kingsbridge House. A native of Pickens, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Nell Sanders Leslie. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Pat T. Childress and her brother, David Leslie.
Jane was a loving and patient mother to Mark and Leslie, and a constant and devoted wife and partner in ministry to Pat. Although her true vocational calling came later in life, she enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a caring and compassionate nurse to geriatric patients. Her life was a quiet, steadfast, and loving example of abundant faith and abiding service to her family and community. Her dear little light did shine, and she will be missed by those who love her.
She is survived by her children, daughter Leslie Wingard and husband Ron of Brevard, NC, and son Mark Childress and wife Laurie Saylors Childress of Columbia, SC.; grandchildren Hayley, Palmer and Max; her twin sister Janice Towers of Pickens, SC and her brother Bert Leslie of Dacusville, SC.
A graveside service for Jane Childress will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stan Sullivan officiating.
