Jean La Force

Jean Elizabeth La Force, 87, of Brevard, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. Born August 30, 1929 in Petersburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Winston and Sarah Thomson Dunnavant. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son Douglas Ronald La Force.

She graduated from Petersburg High School before attending Madison College (now James Madison University). There has never been a more wonderful mother and grandmother than Jean. She was cherished by all her family and will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

Her survivors include her husband of 66 years, LTC (retired) Henry Paul La Force, Jr.; their sons Glen La Force, Sr. and his wife Linda of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Hank La Force and his wife Amy of Knoxville, Tennessee; her sister Winnie Dew and husband Dr. Ronald Dew of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren Glen La Force, Jr. of Tampa, Florida, Betsy La Force of Charleston, South Carolina, Catherine La Force of Nashville, Tennessee and Julie La Force of Birmingham, Alabama and sister-in-law Marie Talley and husband Harry of Youngsvile, North Carolina.

A Memorial Service for Jean La Force will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating.
