Jennie Wilde

Jennie Ophelia Raines Wilde, 88, of Brevard, NC, went peacefully to her eternal home on June 18, 2022, where she is praising and glorifying Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.

A native and lifelong resident of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Polly Hogsed Raines and Herman and Minerva Hogsed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hoyt Kadez Wilde; sisters Louise Moffitt (Jim) and Christine Raines; brothers Calvin Raines and Doug Raines (Mary); and son-in-law Rostand Smith.

She partnered with her husband, Kadez, for 49 years in the ministry. They spent many years at Dunn’s Rock Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist, before retiring in 2003. She and Kadez then joined Cherryfield Baptist Church.

Jennie was a loving wife of 62 years, mother of four children and caregiver to family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed spending time with her family, painting, working jigsaw puzzles, needlework and crafts, cooking and baking. Jennie’s home was always open to the neighborhood children.

She is survived by Daughters Gail Wilde Smith and Sharon Wilde; Sons Greg Wilde and wife Cindy, Tim Wilde and wife Ashley; Grandchildren Amber Smith Releford and husband Breon, Colby Wilde and Meredith Wilde; Great-Grandchildren Taya, Mikayla and Layla Releford; twin sister, Janette Ziegler and husband Charles, two sister-in-laws, Exie Wilde Henson and Carroll Wilde, her cousin, who is more like a sister, Betty Sanford, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Cherryfield Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations.
