Jerome Frederick

Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

Jerome Frederick, 62, of Pisgah Forest, went home to be with our Lord, his family and friends and beloved pets on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on June 25, 1953 to the late Donna and Warren Frederick and grew up in Santa Clara, California. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Rick Frederick of California and sister-in-law Margaret Simms of Pisgah Forest.
Jerome was a Navy veteran and fought in Vietnam. His main profession was as a heavy equipment operator and ditching and grading where he worked very hard. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to take his children fishing and his granddaughters gem-mining in Franklin, NC. He loved putting on fireworks shows on the 4th of July with his son, Nathan, and enjoyed spending time at home with son David. He also like to ride his horse to pick up his daughter at Penrose Elementary School, sometimes to the principal's dismay.
Jerome met his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Simms, at work in San Jose, California in 1973 and they were married six months later. Jerome, Carolyn and their three children moved home to Pisgah Forest in 1981. Jerome loved it here and fit right in.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons Nathan Frederick of Pisgah Forest and David Frederick of Hendersonville; daughter Amber Frederick of Pisgah Forest; brothers Dean Frederick and wife Mona of Elizabethtown, KY, Wade Frederick and wife Debbie of Auburn, Washington; sister April Pacheco-Simpson of Tracey, California; brother - in-law Jim Simms and wife Linda of Pumpkintown, South Carolina; granddaughters Sierra and Sable Lance of Pisgah Forest and grandson Adam Sluder of Coward, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.
There was a celebration of his life at his beside attended by immediate family including his sister April and brother Dean and family friend Tara Melendez.
Jerome was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
