Jessie Louise Hogsed Lance



Brevard - Jessie Louise Hogsed Lance, 92, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at The Oaks of Brevard.

A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Leslie McGaha Hogsed and was the wife of the late Richard Wales Lance. She was also preceded in death by her son, Walter Asberry Lance, brothers, Jeff and Harold Hogsed, sisters, Sally Hogsed, Jacksie Gravely, and Cornelia Gravley, and grandson, Jonathan Chad Owen.

Mrs. Lance was a member of Dunn's Creek Baptist Church where she had been very active. She was also a member and past president of the See Off Homesteaders. She was very active in her community and reported the community news.

Surviving are her daughters, Margaret Corn and husband Larry of Brevard, Doris Owen and husband Don of Brevard, Juanita Butterworth of Danville, VA, and Edith Lance and husband Ronny of Tryon, NC; sisters, Lula Johnson and Mary Bailey both of Brevard; grandchildren, Stephanie Clement, Michelle Cabe, Brent Owen, Kelly Dodson, Dane Owen, Jennifer Robinette, Hannah Faircloth, Rich Butterworth, LeShea Merrill, and Brian Lance; 19 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Dunn's Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Waters and Jackie Hensley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Monday, December 1, 2008 at Moore Funeral Home.
