Jewell Irene Martin, 92, of Brevard, passed away on October 27, 2016. A native of Apopka, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Milton and Myrtle Mae Wells. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Martin and her brother James C. Wells.
She and her husband built a home on Grand Bahama Island and there she created a library of books for young children in the settlement of Freetown, Bahamas. Friends in the United States, Canada and Europe would ship books to her for inclusion in the library.
She is survived by her four children, Dan Hodges and wife Donna of Pisgah Forest, NC and daughter Janice Platt and husband Peter of California; stepdaughters Julie Martin Wade and husband Ted of Florida and Jo Martin Earnshaw and husband Casey of California; 9 grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
No local services are planned.
