Jo Anne Keeley, 77, a longtime resident of Brevard, NC, passed away May 2, 2017. Her service was held May 6 at First United Methodist Church.
Jo Anne is survived by her beloved husband Jim Keeley and three of her four sons Mike, Scott, and Matt. She was preceded in death by her youngest son Andy and her brother, Bill Sellars.
Jo was a graduate of Mary Washington College and the University of Virginia where she earned a BS in Nursing. Jo Anne and Jim lived at Incirlik Air Base near Adana, Turkey for two years where she volunteered to teach Turkish children at a public school. This began a life-long dedication to others.
In Brevard she raised her four sons and later charmed her grandchildren and all her who knew her. She loved her community and played a variety of roles in supporting its life including: teaching Sunday school at First Baptist Church, serving as a den mother for Cub Scouts, volunteering as the PTA president of Brevard Elementary, working as a RN at Pardee Hospital, serving the Children's Center of Transylvania County as a talented Christmas tree decorator for the Festival of Trees, and as a mentor to young mothers in the Well-Baby program.
A Memorial Service for JoAnne Keeley will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Brevard with Rev. Mike Holder and Rev. Lauren Sims-Salata officiating.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice Care at Transylvania Regional Hospital for their support in Jo Anne's final days.
