Joanne Van Syckle

Joanne Louise Van Syckle, 81, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014. A native of Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Everette and Gwendolyn Gyles White.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Mrs. Van Syckle was a career educator, teaching for over thirty years in the state of Michigan. She was awarded the Teacher of Excellence award while teaching in Mount Pleasant.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Neil Van Syckle; her children: Beth Louise Van Syckle of East Flat Rock, North Carolina, Mary Ramirez of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Anne Van Syckle-White of Mills River, North Carolina and Richard Neil Van Syckle of Nashville, Tennessee; grandson Matthew Joseph Ramirez of Spartanburg, South Carolina; sisters Jeanette Hayden of Tucson, Arizona, Jane Van Gigch of Del Ray Beach, Florida, and Nancy Jonckheere of Williamston, Michigan, and her brother Edward White of Charlevoix, Michigan.
