Joe Crane

Joe Charles Crane, 76, of Brevard, NC passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Four Seasons Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, N. C. Joe was a native of Transylvania County and he was a son of the late Charlie and Lenora Owen Crane.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Crane and his step-mother, Dollie Rathbone Crane.

Joe graduated from Rosman High School and he was member of Carsons Creek Baptist Church. He retired from Ecusta after 36 years where he worked in the winding department.

After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, family and friends. Often, he could be found at his barn, which he nick-named, "The 'Empty". This nick-name came from one his favorite western authors, Louis L'Amour. It was in "The Empty" that he worked on his antique tractors and cars, he welcomed and entertained anyone who stopped to visit with him and truly enjoyed tinkering with his tools.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ada Crane; one son; Dale Crane (April) of Travelers Rest, SC, one daughter; Charlene Cali (Chris) and two granddaughters; Crista and Cassidee all of Brevard, NC, one brother; David Crane (Carolyn) of Augusta, Ga, two sisters; Dixie Cassell of Brevard, NC, Helen Hubbard (Milford) of Brevard, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Joe will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Carson's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Big Hill Cemetery.
