Joe Delk

Joe Delk, 81, of Brevard, passed away on December 5, 2014 following a short illness. A native of Johnston County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Rev. David H. and Lula Sheffield Delk. In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his daughter Karen Elaine Delk; two sisters: Hazel Delk and Gladys Simpson Delk; and three brothers: David Hampton Delk, Willie G. (Bill) Delk, and Lohn Latimer Delk.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Rachel Masters Delk and three children: Kay Delk Owen and husband Wayne, Cindy Delk and Mark Delk and wife Kim; six grandchildren: Jennifer Baer, Mickey Grant, Chris Drennen, Jessica Drennen and David Hampton Delk; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; his brother Charles Delk and sister Norma Delk Johnson.
An informal celebration of Joe's life will be held at the Brevard Church of God, 25 McLean Road, Brevard, NC on Saturday, January 10, 2015 beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Transylvania County Habitat for Humanity or the John F. Keever (Care Partners) Solace Center in Asheville.
