Brevard - John Julian "Jules" Brown
John Julian "Jules" Brown, 97, passed away September 17, 2012 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. He was born September 3, 1915, to the late John Boone and Stella Ann White Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Lois Sentelle Brown who died in 2011, a brother; Abbott Brown and a sister; Elizabeth Poteat. He was a member of English Chapel United Methodist Church and he supported Pisgah Forest Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran and also retired from the Army Reserves after more than 20 years of service.
He is survived by four children Jerry Brown (Kathy), Linda Brown Thomas, Donnie Brown (Sandra), and Sharon Brown. He has five grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Pamela Brown Stuckey, Melissa Brown, Kimbery Brown and Logan Brown. He has two great-grandchildren, Jordan Stuckey and John Stuckey and one niece Roel Poteat Bridges.
He worked at Olin Corporation before and after his service to his country for 10 years. He had an entrepreneurial spirit with over 20 businesses in the community. He enjoyed dairy farming, land developing and surveying along with many other interests.
Funeral services were held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church with Rev. David Spray officiating. Interment followed at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory (Formerly Pisgah Gardens). Military Rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County. The family received friends from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Jerry Brown, Don Brown, Logan Brown, Kimberly Brown, Michael Sentelle , Shawn Sentelle and Stanley Walker. Honorary Pallbearers included Frazier Sentelle, Kline Sentelle, Charles Sentelle, Greg Sentelle and Frank Sentelle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transylvania Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 2440, Brevard, NC 28712 and Pisgah Forest Baptist Church Missions Programs, 494 Hendersonville Highway, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
