Brevard -
John "Jack" Nafey Burt, 103, passed away on June 9, 2012 at Transylvania Regional Hospital, Brevard, NC.
He was born in New Brunswick, NJ to the late Charles and Clara Nafey Burt. He was also preceded in death by his wife Jean Amidon Burt in 2008.
Jack graduated from Rutgers in 1932. He retired as a salesman for Turner Tube in 1974. He was an avid skier and was a nationally ranked tennis player, playing until he was 95. He and his wife Jean traveled all over the world.
Mr. Burt proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII in the 141st Infantry Division where he was wounded in action in France. He then served in the Quarter Master Corps in Casablanca.
Jack is survived by his son; J. Randall Burt of Manchester, VT; his grandson, Jeffrey Burt and wife Sara of Marlboro, VT; two great grandchildren; Cyrus and Roxanne, his beloved niece; Jean Marie MacIntosh of Pottersville, NJ; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
