John Ford

John A. Ford, Jr, 85, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2013 at Kingsbridge House, Brevard, NC.

He was born June 13, 1927 in Asheville, NC, and was a son of the late John A. Ford, Sr. and Lucy Ford McConnell. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Brevard, NC serving as a deacon and other positions in Sunday school and the church, as long as his health permitted.

John was a graduate of Brevard College.  He was a veteran and served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II.  He was a local businessman owning and operating Pisgah Candy Company, a wholesale business serving many country stores in W.N.C. He was past-president of the Shrine Club, past-president of the Brevard Jaycees and was a Mason.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeanette Parker Ford, three step-sons; Gary Parker and his wife Barbara of Apex, NC, Joe Parker of Brevard, NC, Bill Parker and his wife Tracey of Hendersonville, NC, grandchildren; Jonathan Parker of Raleigh, NC, Michael Parker of Madrid, Spain, Christopher Parker and his wife Belinda of Flatwoods, KY, Emily Young and her husband Dustin of Fletcher, NC, Adam Parker and his wife Jamie of Melbourne, FL, Will and Claire Parker of Hendersonville, NC, two great grandchildren; Reagan and Rylee Parker of Flatwoods, Ky.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Brevard with Rev. Tommy Crocker officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM at the church.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Kingsbridge House for the excellent care and love shown to John.
