John Hansen

Dr. John Holmes Hansen, 87, of Brevard, NC passed away July 6, 2014 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was a son of the late John H. Hansen and Gladys Holmes Hansen.
He was a veteran, having served his country in the US Army during the end of WWII, then again in Korea.
He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, attended MIT for his undergraduate and graduated from Iowa State University with his Doctorate.
He was a research chemist for DuPont, Dow Badisch and Burlington Industries in Greensboro, NC where he retired.
He enjoyed gardening and had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne DeLamater Hansen, three children; Marianne Holmes Hansen (Robert MacPherson) of Jeffersonville, PA, Susan Baker Hansen of Stoneville, NC and John DeLamater Hansen (Katina Kappas) (Blue Ridge Bakery) of Brevard, NC, three grandchildren; John Kappas Hansen, Matthew Baker Easley and Michael Hansen Easley and a special friend Jon Easley.
Services will be at a later date in Greensboro, NC.
