John Hawkins

Hendersonville -



John H. Hawkins, formerly of Brevard, 75, passed away on Thursday, November 8,  2012 at the Laurels of Summitt Ridge in Asheville.



A native of Transylvania County, he was a son of the late James Lamar and Margaret Kathleen Poor Hawkins. He was also preceded in death by his brother; Terry G. Hawkins.



Mr. Hawkins proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy and in the U. S. Army.



John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Deana S. Hawkins; two daughters; Amy N. Hawkins(Kyle Tucker) of Raleigh, NC and Sherry Galloway (Mark) of Brevard; three sons, John B. Williamson of Mountain Home, NC, W. Ernest Williamson (Angela Gibbs) of Dana, NC, and Bruce E. Hawkins(Jennifer)  of  Charleston, SC; two brothers, Jim Hawkins (Linda) of Brevard and Tom Hawkins(Hazel) of Pisgah Forest; seven grandchildren and many other family members.



A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 3:00PM, Monday, November 12, 2012 at the private family cemetery behind Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Hendersonville with the Rev. Keith Knox officiating.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
