John Victor Murray

Cedar Mountain - John Victor Murray, 96, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Washington, DC and a son of the late John Victor, Sr. and Karen Nielson Murray. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Cora Wilson. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in Valley Forge, PA. He spent most of his working years in Staten Island, NY and retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 1970after 30 years of service. He and his first wife Edna moved after retirement to Merritt Island, FL where she died in 1977 of lung cancer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Ethel Sammons Murray, a daughter; Linda Dorans and husband William of Rockledge, Fl., a son; John Victor Murray III and wife Patty of Ocala, Fl., a son; Andrew Archer of Palm Bay, Fl., and a daughter; Ruth and husband George Douglas Long of Merritt Island, Fl., a sister; Virginia Terkelsen of NJ, seven grandchildren; Christopher and Phillip Dorans, Merissa Terra, Kelley and Patrick Murray, Jennifer Wivholm and George Long, and several great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
