Juanelle Cathey

Juanelle Randolph Cathey, 87, of Rosman, passed away on August 31, 2020. Born in Yancey County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Effie Hylemon Randolph. In adition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son, William “Will” Cathey.

A retired teacher of children with special needs, she was a graduate of Ball Creek High School, before graduating from Gardner-Webb Junior College. She completed her undergraduate studies at East Tennessee State University and received her Master’s Degree from Western Carolina University.

She loved to travel and loved music, which was her passion. She would play piano even as she traveled, sharing her great love of the art in a number of cities around the world.

Her loving survivors include her husband, William Johnson Cathey, JR.; their children Samuel Bryan Cathey (Mary Kay), Sara Cathey, and Cindy Edith McCall (Michael); grandchildren: Andrew Caathy, Arthur Lee Cathey, Jesse McCall, Blythe McCall, Nathan McCall, Mary Juanelle Cathey, Anastasia Cathey and William Gregory Cathey; and 9 great-grandchildren.
