Juanita Allen

Juanita Owen Allen, 78, of Lake Toxaway, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021. A Transylvania County native, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Shook Owen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Lavada Rigsby, her sons Darrell and Scott Allen and her daughter-in-law Brenda Allen.

A graduate of Rosman high School where she played basketball, she loved to help people and this was exemplified in her work first as an EMT and later as secretary for the Lake Toxaway Fire Department where she served for a number of years.

She enjoyed playing bingo every Friday and Saturday night, but she loved her family, her children and grandchildren, most of all.

Her survivors include her son, Duane Allen; grandchildren Kevin Chamberlain (Heather), Ben Powell (Naomi) great-grandchildren Camden and Colten; and sister Frances Tinsley.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Mack McCall Cemetery in Lake Toxaway with Rev. Tommy Mullis officiating. A reception will follow at Station 8, Lake Toxaway Fire Department.
