Kanzie Owen Anders, 95, passed away on March, 16, 2013 at Kingsbridge House in Brevard, NC. A native and lifelong resident of Transylvania County, she was born on April 13, 1917, the daughter of James Robert "Robbie" and Sylvitha Galloway Owen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Doyle Anders, who passed away in 1987, sisters Beulah Jones, Opal Broom, Dorothy Bee Owen, Donna Vee Callahan, and Oleda King, and brothers Laury, L.E. and Jay Olan Owen.
Kanzie loved gardening and could make anything grow, including a sequoia tree she grew from a seed she found in California. She loved to sew and preserve food and enjoyed visits with friends and family. She was a charter member of the Brevard Seventh-Day Adventist Church
She is survived by her son and his wife, David Merle and Linda Anders of Lake Toxaway, NC, granddaughters and husbands, Wendy and Bobby Zopf of Suwanee, GA, and Melanie and Heath McMillan of Woodstock, GA; great-grandchildren, Ava and Owen Zopf, and Reed, Carter and Phoebe McMillan; sister, Leota Moore of Lake Toxaway; brother and wife, James Furman and Ann Owen of Brevard, NC; sister-in-law, Paulette Owen of Lake Toxaway; brother-in-law, Truitt King of Pelzer, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Anders Cemetery, Silversteen Road, Lake Toxaway, on Saturday, March, 23, 2013 at 2PM with Pastor Buster McCall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Mark Anders, 4407 Diamond Creek Road, Lake Toxaway, NC 28747 for the Anders Cemetery Fund.
