Karen R. Bates

Karen R. Bates of Wappingers Falls NY died at home, July 23, 2023 in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Karen was a creative force in life. An avid horsewoman, potter, stained glass artist, beekeeper, gardener, kayaker, hiker, and a loving, driving force behind her family. She loved life and the people close to her. Karen adored all animals and made sure she was always surrounded by critters. A fearless lady who was always up for an adventure or a challenge. She taught her kids to love the outdoors, respect the planet, work hard and to have fun. Dancing at the drum circle, dressing up for festivals, and Halloween were some of her favorite times.

Karen leaves behind her devoted husband Kenneth Rodney (Rod) Bates, the love of her life,  her children - Rebecca Holt (Jeff Newman), Timothy Day, and Patrick Bates (stepson).  She was predeceased by her brother David Relyea and her parents William F. Relyea and Eleanor M. Relyea (Hamilton).

Our lives are forever changed with the passing of this amazing woman.
