Kenneth Edward Radford, 96, of Etowah, passed away on January 27, 2023. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late R.L. and Carrie Jenkins Radford. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Velsie S. Radford; their son Roger Lee Radford; his siblings: Paul, Katherine, Cameron and R.L.; and his son-in-law, Rodney W. Gosnell.
A World War II veteran, he was also retired from the Rosman Tracking Station. He was an excellent woodworker, making a number of pieces of furniture. He and his wife loved to go antique shopping, and as well as seeking out the best yard sales and flea markets. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
But he was the best daddy. He was always dependable, always honest and always keeping his word. He was the very best daddy!
He is survived by his loving daughters, Sandy Radford of Pisgah Forest and Karen Gosnell of Asheville; grandson Rodney R. Gosnell; his sister, Dr. Eleanor Ruth Radford of Asheville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Kenneth Radford will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Western Carolina State veteran Cemetery in Black Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, everyone is urged to donate to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 who took such wonderful care of him.
