Laura Paxton

Laura Isabelle Paxton, 97, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Born in Rosman, NC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Marcus and Hattie Belle Daniels Pharr. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, A.M. "Dick" Paxton and by her sisters, Eva Crownover and Irene Leary.

After graduating from Rosman High School, where she was a member of the ladies basketball team, she worked for forty years at Olin/Ecusta until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Gainer and husband Tom of Pisgah Forest, and sons Edward Paxton and wife Patsy of Cathy's Creek, and Dickie Paxton of Rosman; grandchildren Loretta Miller, Jeff Paxton and Terry Paxton and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Paxton will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Cherryfield Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Pressler officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Moriah-Calvert Cemetery.
