Lawrence Grady Weed, 88, of Brevard, passed away on August 1, 2017 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Lawrence Grady and Pauline Spivey Weed.
An accountant by trade, he also served in the Army National Guard. He loved the outdoors, whether hiking or gardening, but his passion was sailing, which he did often on Lake Lanier while he lived in the Atlanta area. He loved his family and friends, particularly the men's coffee group at St. Timothy UMC, where he attended regularly.
Mr. Weed is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne Coffee Weed; their daughter Angela Matulich and husband Mark of Brevard, NC; grandsons Daniel Matulich of Louisville, KY and Phillip Matulich of Brevard, NC; great-granddaughter Hannah Matulich of Louisville, KY; his sister Gloria Hutcheson of Marietta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Lawrence Grady Weed will be held at 12:30 pm on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Brevard, with Rev. Ann Duncan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Timothy United Methodist Church.
