Lee A. Walker, 92, of Lake Toxaway, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harry Dwight Walker, Sr. and Elizabeth Greene Walker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Walker and his brother Harry Dwight Walker II.
A WWII veteran, Mr. Walker served in the U.S. Navy and later as a Civil Servant as an aviation metal-smith. A 32nd degree Master Mason, he had worked as a security guard for Lake Toxaway Country Club for over twenty years.
Lee Walker is survived by his three daughters: Judy Dove and husband Ronald of Atmore, Alabama, Mary Lee Shipley and husband Graham of Charlotte, NC, and Debbie Sorkin and husband Larry of Lake Toxaway; grandchildren Ronald Dove, Jr. and wife Kelly, Patrick Dove and wife Laurie, Christopher Dove, Rachel Shipley, Andrew Shipley and wife Jessica, Sabrina Holt and husband Scott and Kerri Sorkin and partner Jenna Schierle; 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Lake Toxaway Baptist Church with Rev. Danny McLamb officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2014, from 6 - 8 PM at Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
