Leming Bassett Corlis, 83, of Etowah, NC passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leming Corlis and Lucille Kramer Corlis.
He was a member of the Mental Health Society of Broward Co., Fl.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Enid "Jackie" Corlis, two daughters; Kerry Corlis and Husband Darryl of Flat Rock, NC and Dana Snipes and husband Daniel of Charleston, SC, one son; Mark Corlis of San Francisco, CA, one brother; Rahe Corlis and wife Pat of Columbus, Ohio and grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Corlis, Corey Cox, Chelsea Goodman, Courtney Goodman, Laurel Snipes and Jamey Snipes.
Lem worked his way through college playing standup bass fiddle and his love of music continued throughout his life. He also played the banjo, Guitar and vibes. He and his wife Jackie opened the Carolina Connection in downtown Brevard and ran it for 18 very fulfilling years making lots of loyal customers and friends. He loved to play golf and making people laugh but he was happiest at home surrounded by his family and his dogs.
A Private memorial service will be held at his home.
