Lena Saunders

Lena Frady Saunders, 86, of Salem, Utah, formerly of Brevard passed away on December 17, 2014. A native of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Estella Stanton Frady. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Saunders, Jr. and a sister, Marian Ammons of Brevard.

After having lived in New York State for most of her early life, Lena and her family moved to Waynesville where she graduated high school and married Fred. She retired from DuPont in Brevard after having worked there for twenty-five years. Lena and Fred greatly enjoyed their retirement years until Fred's passing in 1992. Lena was always happiest any time she was with members of her family.

Loving survivors include her son, Mike Saunders of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, two daughters, Jean Saunders Woodward and Sharon Saunders, both of Salem, Utah, a brother, Jim Frady of Waynesvile, a sister, Joyce Brock of New Ellenton, South Carolina, and a sister, Linda Nold of Elsmore, Kansas, as well as nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Lena served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah from 2003 to 2004, and lived the remainder of her days in Salem, Utah. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who love her dearly. Lena will always be remembered for her warm and loving smile and her kind, gentle nature.

A Memorial Service for Lena Saunders will be held at 4:30 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Neely Road in Brevard.

Interment will be private.
