Leonard A. Hall, 92, died Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at his home. He was born in Oswego, NY, the son of the late Anna and Leonard Hall. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge he enrolled at Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He joined Carrier Corporation in 1951 after his marriage to Elizabeth W. (Betty-Jo) Walsh. He started in Research and Development in Syracuse, NY; was transferred to the Bryant Division in Tyler, TX. He later transferred to Indianapolis, IN. where he served in several positions. He was transferred to Syracuse, NY to head the Energy Systems Division.
Upon retiring to Pisgah Forest, NC in 1985, he volunteered with Literacy Volunteers of America to do major fund raising. Later with International Executives Service Corp., he served in the Commonwealth of Dominica and also served two 3 months programs in Zimbabwe, southern Africa.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Sweeting of Brevard, NC, five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served as the chair of the finance council. He played a role in facilitating the church’s transition from Caldwell Street to it's present location.
He enjoyed reading and politics. He was also an avid golfer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, NC.
